Payments and cancellations
- Custom cakes start at a $120 minimum order and must be placed at least 2 weeks before your event. Last-minute custom orders? A rush fee of 20% will apply. If you're short on time, we highly recommend adding one of our Becky-to-go cakes to cart.
- To secure your date, a 50% retainer is required within 48 hours of receiving your quote. This amount counts towards your total balance and is non-refundable. For last-minute orders or those under $150, the complete balance is due upfront and is non-refundable. We do not accept cash or same day payments.
- We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel, we may allow a transfer to another date but it is based on availability and not a guarantee.
- The remaining balance is due 7 days before your event. We’ll send a reminder, but if payment isn’t received and we don’t hear from you, your order will be canceled and your deposit forfeited.
- Please note that if you cancel after the order has been started, the deposit will be forfeited. If the order has been finished and full payment has been remitted, the full balance is forfeited.
- Please double-check your order details! If an incorrect date was provided and a rush order is needed, an additional fee of 50% will apply.
- Since all of our work is custom, please understand that all sales are final, and refunds are not offered. However, if we make a mistake, please don't hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to do whatever we can to correct it.
- In the rare case that we must cancel your order due to an emergency, you will receive a full refund with the option to receive a discounted order on a future date.
General policies
- We take allergies seriously! Please let us know about any allergies beforehand. All orders are processed in the same space, but we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. You agree to inform your guests that the cake/treat may have come in contact with 1 or more of the major food allergen groups, if no allergy issues are listed.
- While we welcome inspiration photos, we do not guarantee exact replicas of another baker’s work. Each order will be interpreted in our own unique style. Custom designs are made exclusively for the client’s event; however, Becky’s Bake Shop retains the right to recreate or modify these designs for future orders.
- Please Confirm your cake’s condition before accepting it! If you see any issues, let us know right away. For flavor concerns, you have 6 hours to address it. Once the cake has been eaten, unfortunately, we are not able to offer any remedy.
- You can make changes up 7 days before your order is due. We’ll do our best to match your design or color requests, but please keep in mind that exposure to light can cause some colors to change. We do not offer discounts or refunds if the exact shade of a color is not achieved or if a variation occurs due to lighting.
- Cupcakes have a minimum of 1 dozen with cake orders and 2 dozen on their own. While we may use fondant decorations, we do not offer fondant-covered cakes.
Pickup/Delivery and Set up
- Delivery starts at just $20 and depends on mileage from our location in Silver Spring, MD. If you prefer to pick up, you are responsible for the cake’s condition once it leaves our shop, so please secure it well during transport! Cake should not be on the seat during travel. It must be on the floor, in the trunk (SUV) with nonslip material or held by a passenger.
- We are not responsible for damages once the cake has been delivered. You are responsible for providing an appropriate and secure table and environment for the cake. Cakes are heavy and require a sturdy table, and optimal room temperature of 75 degrees or below.
- Pickup/Delivery times vary. Please feel free to let us know of your preferred time frame and we will try our best to accommodate if possible. If you’re running late for your pick up, Please just communicate with us! We allow a 30-minute grace period, but beyond that, a $20 fee applies. In the case that we are running late, we’ll notify you immediately and do our best to make it right.
Privacy
- Your privacy is important to us! We won’t share your identity without your permission, but we love to showcase our creations! We reserve the right to take photos of your cake and use those photos on our website, social media, or marketing materials for display or promotion without compensation to you.
